Enjoy fellowship, refreshments and an informal Q & A session with artist Marcia Biasiello.
We'll also be screening excerpts of Biasiello's The Martha: A Possible Opera
In 1986, Marciana Biasiello and Robert Metrick received a grant from the Illinois Arts Council to create a multi-media performance at Randolph Street Gallery. The Martha focused on an enigmatic character who is missing – Martha does not appear on stage but she is recalled, missed, mourned and eulogized. The resulting pastiche or gemanstkunstwerk included monologues, a full chorus comprising School of the Art Institute students, a short film by Colleen Sullivan, props and costumes by Mary Brogger, and sets including a monumental mural along the western wall of the theatre.
